David Rosen (rabbi)
David Rosen is an Israeli rabbi and a prominent figure in interfaith dialogue and Jewish-Christian relations. He has made significant contributions to promoting understanding and cooperation between different religious communities.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
David Rosen was born in Newbury, Berkshire, England. He pursued his rabbinical studies at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Jerusalem, where he was ordained as a rabbi. He also holds a degree in Jewish studies from the same institution.
Career[edit | edit source]
Rabbi David Rosen has held various significant positions throughout his career. He served as the Chief Rabbi of Ireland from 1979 to 1985. During his tenure, he worked to strengthen the Jewish community in Ireland and fostered positive relations with other religious groups.
After his tenure in Ireland, Rabbi Rosen moved to South Africa, where he served as a rabbi and continued his work in interfaith dialogue. He later returned to Israel and became the International Director of Interreligious Affairs for the American Jewish Committee (AJC).

Rabbi Rosen is widely recognized for his efforts in promoting interfaith dialogue. He has been involved in numerous initiatives aimed at fostering understanding and cooperation between different religious communities. He was knighted by Pope Benedict XVI in 2005, receiving the title of Knight Commander of the Order of St. Gregory the Great. He has also been awarded the Papal Knighthood and the Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his contributions to interfaith understanding.

Rabbi David Rosen is married and has children. He continues to reside in Jerusalem, where he remains active in his work promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding.
