Derrick Plourde
Derrick Plourde (October 17, 1971 – March 30, 2005) was an American musician and drummer known for his work in several influential punk rock bands. He was a prominent figure in the California punk scene during the 1990s and early 2000s.

Derrick Plourde was born on October 17, 1971, in Goleta, California. He developed an interest in music at a young age and began playing the drums during his teenage years. His passion for music led him to become a key player in the punk rock genre.
Musical Career[edit | edit source]
Plourde's career took off when he joined the band Lagwagon in 1992. Lagwagon was one of the first bands signed to Fat Wreck Chords, a record label founded by Fat Mike of NOFX. Plourde's drumming was a significant contribution to the band's early success, and he played on their first three albums: Duh (1992), Trashed (1994), and Hoss (1995).
After leaving Lagwagon, Plourde continued to make his mark in the punk rock scene. He joined the band Bad Astronaut, a side project of Lagwagon's lead vocalist Joey Cape. Bad Astronaut released several albums, including Acrophobe (2001) and Houston: We Have a Drinking Problem (2002).
Plourde also played with other notable bands such as The Ataris and Mad Caddies, further establishing his reputation as a talented and versatile drummer.
Personal Life and Death[edit | edit source]
Despite his success in the music industry, Plourde struggled with personal issues, including depression and substance abuse. Tragically, he took his own life on March 30, 2005, at the age of 33. His death was a significant loss to the punk rock community, and he is remembered for his contributions to the genre.
