Design

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Design is a broad multidisciplinary field that covers various aspects of life and industry. It involves the creation of a plan or convention for the construction of an object, system or measurable human interaction. Design has different connotations in different fields (see Design disciplines below). In some cases, the direct construction of an object (as in pottery, engineering, management, coding, and graphic design) is also considered to be design.

History[edit | edit source]

Design as a discipline has a history that dates back to the earliest civilizations. The ancient Egyptians, for example, used complex design principles in the construction of the pyramids. The Industrial Revolution in the 19th century brought about significant changes in design, with the introduction of mass production and the assembly line. In the 20th century, the rise of digital technology led to the emergence of new design fields such as User Interface Design and User Experience Design.
