Dessie Ellis (born 12 September 1953) is an Irish politician and member of Sinn Féin. He has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin North-West constituency since the 2011 general election.

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Ellis was born in Dublin in 1953. He became involved in Irish republicanism at a young age and was an active member of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA) during the Troubles.

Political Career[edit | edit source]

Ellis was first elected to Dublin City Council in 1999, representing the Ballymun-Finglas area. He served on the council until his election to the Dáil Éireann in 2011.

Dáil Éireann[edit | edit source]

Ellis was elected as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin North-West constituency in the 2011 general election. He has been re-elected in subsequent elections and continues to serve as a TD.
