Donald Cerrone

Donald Anthony Cerrone (born March 29, 1983) is an American mixed martial artist and former professional kickboxer. He is known for his tenure in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he competed in the Lightweight and Welterweight divisions. Cerrone is widely regarded for his exciting fighting style and holds several records in the UFC, including most wins and most finishes.

Cerrone was born in Denver, Colorado. He began training in kickboxing and Muay Thai at a young age. Cerrone attended Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs, where he was introduced to bull riding, a sport he pursued before transitioning to mixed martial arts.

Mixed Martial Arts Career[edit | edit source]

World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC)[edit | edit source]

Cerrone began his professional MMA career in the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) promotion. He quickly made a name for himself with his aggressive fighting style and submission skills. Cerrone fought notable opponents such as Jamie Varner and Benson Henderson during his time in the WEC.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)[edit | edit source]

After the WEC merged with the UFC in 2010, Cerrone continued his career in the UFC. He made his debut against Paul Kelly at UFC 126, winning the fight via submission. Cerrone went on to fight some of the top names in the sport, including Nate Diaz, Anthony Pettis, and Conor McGregor.

Cerrone is known for his willingness to fight frequently, often taking short-notice bouts. He holds the record for the most wins in UFC history and is tied for the most finishes. Cerrone has also earned multiple Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night bonuses.
