Dora Jane Hamblin
Dora Jane Hamblin (1920 – 1993) was an American journalist and author, best known for her work with Life magazine and her contributions to the field of archaeology.

Dora Jane Hamblin was born in 1920 in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, where she earned a degree in English literature.
Career[edit | edit source]
Hamblin began her career in journalism at Life magazine in the 1940s. She quickly rose through the ranks to become a senior editor. During her tenure at Life, she covered a wide range of topics, including World War II, politics, and culture.
Work in Archaeology[edit | edit source]
In the 1960s, Hamblin developed a keen interest in archaeology. She collaborated with prominent archaeologists such as Kathleen Kenyon and Yigael Yadin. Her work brought significant attention to archaeological discoveries in the Middle East, particularly in Jerusalem and Masada.
