The Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPSG) was an American multinational soft drink company, headquartered in Plano, Texas. It was one of the largest beverage companies in the United States, known for its wide range of carbonated and non-carbonated beverages. The company was formed in 2008 as a spin-off from Cadbury Schweppes and was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "DPS" until its merger with Keurig Green Mountain in 2018, forming Keurig Dr Pepper.

History[edit | edit source]

The origins of the Dr Pepper Snapple Group can be traced back to the creation of Dr Pepper in the 1880s in Waco, Texas. Dr Pepper was one of the first major soft drinks in the United States, and its unique flavor quickly gained popularity. Over the years, the brand expanded and merged with other beverage companies, eventually becoming part of Cadbury Schweppes.

In 2008, Cadbury Schweppes decided to separate its beverage and confectionery businesses, leading to the creation of the Dr Pepper Snapple Group as an independent entity. This allowed DPSG to focus solely on its beverage portfolio, which included well-known brands such as 7 Up, A&W Root Beer, Canada Dry, and Snapple.

Products[edit | edit source]

The Dr Pepper Snapple Group's product lineup included a variety of carbonated soft drinks, juices, teas, mixers, and other beverages. Some of the most popular brands under the DPSG umbrella were:

  • Dr Pepper: A unique blend of 23 flavors, Dr Pepper is one of the oldest and most iconic soft drinks in the United States.
  • Snapple: Known for its "Made from the Best Stuff on Earth" slogan, Snapple offers a range of teas and juice drinks.
  • 7 Up: A lemon-lime flavored soft drink that is caffeine-free.
  • A&W Root Beer: A classic American root beer brand.
  • Canada Dry: Famous for its ginger ale, Canada Dry also offers a variety of mixers and flavored sodas.

Merger with Keurig Green Mountain[edit | edit source]

In 2018, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group merged with Keurig Green Mountain, a leading coffee company, to form Keurig Dr Pepper. This merger combined the strengths of both companies, creating a beverage powerhouse with a diverse portfolio of hot and cold beverages. The new company continued to operate under the name Keurig Dr Pepper, with its headquarters remaining in Plano, Texas.
