Dushanbe is the capital city and the largest city of Tajikistan, located in the Hissar Valley in the south of the country. History

The city was renamed Stalinabad in 1929, in honor of Joseph Stalin, but reverted to its original name, Dushanbe, in 1961, following de-Stalinization.
