Eagle Rare

From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Eagle Rare is a brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced by the Sazerac Company. The brand was originally established by Seagram in 1975, and is now distilled and aged at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.

History[edit | edit source]

Seagram introduced the Eagle Rare brand in 1975 as a 101-proof ten-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. In 1989, the Sazerac Company purchased the brand and production was moved to the Buffalo Trace Distillery in 2002.

Production[edit | edit source]

Eagle Rare is a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, which means it must be distilled and aged in Kentucky for a minimum of two years. The whiskey is aged for ten years in new, charred oak barrels, which gives it a rich, deep flavor.

Tasting Notes[edit | edit source]

Eagle Rare has a complex aroma of herbs, honey, and oak. The taste is bold and dry, with notes of candied almonds and rich cocoa. The finish is long and dry, with lingering notes of cherry and clove.

Awards[edit | edit source]

Eagle Rare has won numerous awards for its quality and taste, including the Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2011 and 2013.
