Eli Capilouto is an American university administrator and the 12th president of the University of Kentucky. He assumed office on July 1, 2011, succeeding Lee T. Todd Jr..

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

Capilouto was born in Montgomery, Alabama. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He later received a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the same institution. Capilouto also holds a Doctor of Science in Health Policy and Management from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Career[edit | edit source]

Before becoming the president of the University of Kentucky, Capilouto served as the provost of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In this role, he was responsible for the academic affairs of the university, including the development and implementation of academic policies and programs.

Presidency at the University of Kentucky[edit | edit source]

As president of the University of Kentucky, Capilouto has focused on enhancing the university's academic reputation, increasing research funding, and improving campus infrastructure. Under his leadership, the university has seen significant growth in enrollment and research expenditures. Capilouto has also been instrumental in the development of new facilities on campus, including the construction of modern dormitories and academic buildings.

Eli Capilouto is married to Mary Lynne Capilouto, who is also a dentist. The couple has been actively involved in various community and university activities.
