Emily Petricola
Emily Petricola (born 24 April 1980) is an Australian para-cyclist who has represented Australia in international competitions. She competes in the C4 classification for athletes with physical impairments.
Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]
Emily Petricola was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2007, which significantly impacted her life and career. Despite her diagnosis, she pursued her passion for sports and eventually found her way to para-cycling.
Career[edit | edit source]
Emily Petricola began her para-cycling career in 2015. She quickly rose through the ranks, showcasing her talent and determination. She competes in both track and road cycling events.
Major Achievements[edit | edit source]
- In 2018, Petricola won her first world title at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the individual pursuit C4 event.
- At the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, she won a gold medal in the women's individual pursuit C4 event and a silver medal in the women's time trial C4 event.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Emily Petricola is an advocate for people living with Multiple Sclerosis and often speaks about her experiences to raise awareness about the condition. She continues to inspire many with her resilience and dedication to her sport.
