Vitaminwater is a brand of bottled water that is enriched with vitamins and minerals. It is produced and distributed by Energy Brands, a subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company.

History[edit | edit source]

Vitaminwater was introduced in New York City in 2000 by J. Darius Bikoff, the founder of Energy Brands. The brand quickly gained popularity and was acquired by The Coca-Cola Company in 2007 for $4.1 billion.

Products[edit | edit source]

Vitaminwater offers a variety of flavored water products, each containing different combinations of vitamins and minerals. The most popular flavors include XXX (triple antioxidants), Power-C (dragonfruit), and Essential (orange-orange).

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Despite its health-focused branding, Vitaminwater has been the subject of several controversies. In 2009, the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) filed a lawsuit against The Coca-Cola Company, alleging deceptive and unsubstantiated health claims. The lawsuit was settled in 2016, with Coca-Cola agreeing to modify its marketing practices and labeling for Vitaminwater.
