EvidenceNetwork.ca is a non-partisan, web-based project funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Manitoba Health Research Council to make the latest evidence on controversial health policy issues available to the media. The project links over 80 experts in health services and policy research from across Canada with journalists interested in health policy topics.

Overview[edit | edit source]

EvidenceNetwork.ca was established in April 2011 with the aim of ensuring that Canadian health policy decisions are informed by high-quality, timely, and relevant research evidence. The network provides a bridge between health researchers and journalists, helping to ensure that health stories in the media are evidence-based, accurate, and comprehensive.

Services[edit | edit source]

EvidenceNetwork.ca provides a range of services to journalists, including:

  • Access to a database of health policy experts who are available for interviews.
  • A library of articles and op-eds on current health policy issues, written by experts and available for free use in any media outlet.
  • Regular newsletters highlighting the latest research evidence on key health policy issues.
  • Training and resources for journalists on how to use research evidence in their reporting.

Impact[edit | edit source]

Since its launch, EvidenceNetwork.ca has had a significant impact on the quality of health reporting in Canada. The network's experts have been quoted in hundreds of news stories, and its articles and op-eds have been published in major media outlets across the country.
