From WikiMD's Wellness Encyclopedia

Fan Milk is a Ghanaian-based dairy product manufacturer and vendor. It is one of the largest and most significant companies in the West African dairy industry. Fan Milk primarily produces and sells frozen desserts, fruit drinks, and yogurt.

History[edit | edit source]

Fan Milk was established in Ghana in 1960 by a Danish merchant and industrialist, Erik Emborg. The company was initially a small-scale operation, selling milk-based products from a bicycle. Over the years, Fan Milk has grown into a multinational corporation, expanding its operations to other West African countries such as Nigeria, Togo, Ivory Coast, Benin, and Burkina Faso.

Products[edit | edit source]

Fan Milk's product line includes a variety of dairy and non-dairy products. The company's dairy products include milk, yogurt, and ice cream, while its non-dairy products include fruit drinks. Some of the popular products from Fan Milk include FanYogo (a yogurt-based product), FanIce (an ice cream product), and FanDango (a fruit drink product).

Operations[edit | edit source]

Fan Milk operates in several West African countries, with each country having its own production facilities. The company's distribution network is extensive, reaching even the most remote areas of these countries. Fan Milk's products are sold by vendors who typically use bicycles or push carts.

Ownership[edit | edit source]

Fan Milk was initially a Danish-owned company. However, in 2013, the company was acquired by Abraaj Group, a global private equity firm. In 2016, Danone, a global food-products corporation, and The Abraaj Group jointly acquired a majority stake in Fan Milk.
