Feeding America is a United States-based nonprofit organization that operates a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs. It is the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization, working to connect people with food and end hunger. The organization provides food to more than 40 million people through 4.3 billion meals each year.

Feeding America was founded in 1979 as America's Second Harvest by John van Hengel, a retired businessman who had previously established the first food bank in the United States in Phoenix, Arizona. The organization's name was changed to Feeding America in 2008 to better reflect its mission of feeding America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks.

The mission of Feeding America is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage the country in the fight to end hunger. It operates on a model of rescuing surplus food that would otherwise go to waste from various sources, including manufacturers, distributors, retailers, food service companies, and farmers. Feeding America also supports programs that improve food security among the people they serve; educates the public about the problem of hunger; and advocates for legislation that protects people from going hungry. Initiatives include child hunger programs, disaster response, and the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) outreach.
