Ferrari Trento
Ferrari Trento is an Italian winery and sparkling wine producer located in the Trentino region of Italy. The winery is renowned for its high-quality Metodo Classico sparkling wines, which are produced using the traditional method of secondary fermentation in the bottle.
History[edit | edit source]
Ferrari Trento was founded in 1902 by Giulio Ferrari, who was inspired by the Champagne region of France and aimed to create a similar style of sparkling wine in Italy. Giulio Ferrari's vision was to produce a wine that could rival the best Champagnes, and he chose the Trentino region for its ideal climate and soil conditions.
In 1952, Giulio Ferrari, who had no heirs, entrusted the winery to Bruno Lunelli, a local wine merchant. The Lunelli family has since continued to manage and expand the winery, maintaining its commitment to quality and tradition.
Production[edit | edit source]
Ferrari Trento specializes in the production of Metodo Classico sparkling wines, which involve a labor-intensive process of secondary fermentation in the bottle. This method is similar to the one used in the production of Champagne and results in wines with fine bubbles and complex flavors.
The winery uses primarily Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, which are grown in the high-altitude vineyards of the Trentino region. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected to ensure the highest quality.
Wines[edit | edit source]
Ferrari Trento produces a range of sparkling wines, including:
- Ferrari Brut: The flagship wine of the winery, made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. It is known for its fresh and fruity character with notes of apple, pear, and bread crust.
- Ferrari Perlé: A vintage sparkling wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. It is aged for at least five years on the lees, resulting in a complex and elegant wine with notes of citrus, almond, and honey.
- Ferrari Rosé: A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, this wine has a delicate pink color and flavors of red berries and rose petals.
- Ferrari Riserva Lunelli: A special reserve wine made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, aged for at least seven years on the lees. It is known for its rich and creamy texture with notes of vanilla, hazelnut, and brioche.
Awards and Recognition[edit | edit source]
Ferrari Trento has received numerous awards and accolades for its sparkling wines. The winery has been named "Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year" multiple times at the Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships. Ferrari Trento wines are also frequently featured in prestigious wine competitions and publications.
Sustainability[edit | edit source]
Ferrari Trento is committed to sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices. The winery has implemented various initiatives to reduce its environmental impact, including organic farming, energy efficiency measures, and water conservation efforts.
