Fluazacort

Fluazacort is a glucocorticoid used as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive agent. It is sold under the brand names Fluzacort and Fluazacortum.

Pharmacology[edit | edit source]

Fluazacort is a synthetic corticosteroid and a derivative of prednisolone. It has potent anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and immunosuppressive effects that are used to treat various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. Like other corticosteroids, fluazacort also has metabolic, catabolic, and endocrine effects.

Medical uses[edit | edit source]

Fluazacort is used to treat a variety of conditions that involve inflammation. These include rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, allergies, and autoimmune diseases. It is also used to treat adrenal insufficiency and to prevent organ rejection in transplant surgery.

Side effects[edit | edit source]

Common side effects of fluazacort include weight gain, osteoporosis, glaucoma, diabetes, and Cushing's syndrome. Long-term use can lead to adrenal suppression and withdrawal syndrome.
