Fort Portal Hospital
Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital, commonly referred to as Fort Portal Hospital, is a hospital in the city of Fort Portal, Kabarole District, in the Western Region of Uganda. It is a public hospital, funded by the government of Uganda and serves as a referral facility for the districts of Kabarole, Kyegegwa, Kyenjojo, Bundibugyo, Ntoroko, and Kamwenge, among others. The hospital is also a teaching site for medical students from various universities.

Fort Portal Hospital is located in the city of Fort Portal, approximately 300 kilometers west of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. The hospital's coordinates are approximately 0°39'28.0"N, 30°16'32.0"E.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Fort Portal Hospital was established to provide comprehensive medical services to the population of the Rwenzori region in western Uganda. As a regional referral hospital, it offers specialized healthcare services including surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and dentistry, among others. The hospital also plays a crucial role in public health education and disease prevention in the region.

The Ugandan government and various stakeholders are continuously working to improve the infrastructure and services offered at Fort Portal Hospital. Plans for expansion and modernization include the construction of new wards, acquisition of modern medical equipment, and increasing the hospital's capacity to train healthcare professionals.
