François Désiré Roulin
François Désiré Roulin (1796–1874) was a French naturalist, explorer, and artist. He is known for his contributions to the fields of zoology, botany, and ethnography. Roulin's work primarily focused on the flora and fauna of South America, particularly during his time in Colombia.

François Désiré Roulin was born in Paris, France, in 1796. He studied medicine and natural sciences, which laid the foundation for his future explorations and scientific contributions.
Exploration in South America[edit | edit source]
In 1822, Roulin joined an expedition to South America led by Jean-Baptiste Boussingault. During his time in Colombia, he conducted extensive research on the region's biodiversity. Roulin's observations and collections significantly contributed to the understanding of South American wildlife and plant life.
