Francesco St Jerome (also known as Francesco da Girolamo, Francesco Geronimo, or Francis Jerome, 1642–1716) was an Italian Jesuit priest and missionary. He is venerated as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church, celebrated for his evangelical zeal and miracles. He was canonized by Pope Gregory XVI in 1839. His feast day is observed on May 11.

Early Life

Francesco St Jerome was born in Grottaglie, in the province of Taranto, Italy, on December 17, 1642. He entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) at the age of 16 and was ordained a priest in 1666.

Missionary Work

After his ordination, Francesco dedicated himself to missionary work in the Kingdom of Naples, particularly focusing on the rural and urban poor. He was known for his passionate sermons, tireless pastoral care, and commitment to the Sacrament of Confession.
