Franklin Rawson

Franklin Rawson was a prominent figure in the field of art history. He was born on March 3, 1929, in New York City, United States. Rawson dedicated his career to the study and appreciation of Latin American art.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Rawson obtained his Bachelor's degree in Art History from Columbia University in 1951. He later pursued his Master's and Ph.D. in Art History from Harvard University.

Career[edit | edit source]

Rawson began his career as a professor of Art History at Yale University in 1960. He published several influential works on Latin American art, including The Legacy of the Andes and Exploring Latin American Art. Rawson's research focused on the intersection of indigenous art forms and European influences in Latin American art.

In addition to his academic work, Rawson curated several exhibitions showcasing Latin American art at prestigious museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.
