FrieslandCampina is a Dutch multinational dairy cooperative that is one of the largest dairy companies in the world. It is headquartered in Amersfoort, Netherlands, and operates in over 100 countries. The company is owned by the cooperative Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina U.A., which has over 18,000 member dairy farmers in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.

History[edit | edit source]

FrieslandCampina was formed in December 2008 through the merger of two Dutch dairy cooperatives, Friesland Foods and Campina. Both companies had a long history in the dairy industry, with roots going back to the late 19th century. The merger was aimed at strengthening their position in the global dairy market and improving efficiency and innovation.

Products[edit | edit source]

FrieslandCampina produces a wide range of dairy products, including milk, cheese, butter, yogurt, and infant nutrition. Some of its well-known brands include Friso, Dutch Lady, Landliebe, and Campina. The company is also involved in the production of ingredients for the food and beverage industry, such as milk powders and dairy-based ingredients.

Operations[edit | edit source]

The company operates through several business groups, including Consumer Dairy, Specialized Nutrition, Ingredients, and Dairy Essentials. FrieslandCampina has production facilities in many countries and employs over 23,000 people worldwide. The cooperative structure allows member farmers to have a say in the company's operations and share in its profits.

Sustainability[edit | edit source]

FrieslandCampina is committed to sustainability and has implemented various initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. The company focuses on sustainable dairy farming, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and improving animal welfare. It also aims to promote biodiversity and reduce water and energy usage in its operations.
