Gelre Hospitals

Gelre Hospitals (Gelre Ziekenhuizen) is a group of hospitals in the Netherlands. It consists of hospitals in Apeldoorn and Zutphen, as well as an outpatient clinic in Lochem. Gelre Hospitals has a total of 925 beds and employs 3300 personnel, including 115 full-time physicians. It serves as a teaching hospital for medical residents, nurses, and various assistants.

The largest hospital in the Gelre group is Lukas, located in the southern part of Apeldoorn. Lukas offers a wide range of medical specialties, except for cardiothoracic surgery and neurosurgery. It has a 24/7 emergency department and underwent major renovation and expansion from 2005 to 2008.

The Zutphen hospital is the second largest in the Gelre group and is situated in the southeastern part of Zutphen. Similar to Lukas, it provides various medical specialties and has a 24/7 emergency department. The hospital also houses an out-of-hours general practitioners clinic. In 2011, the hospital moved to a new building, replacing the previous one called Spittaal, which was demolished in 2013.

The outpatient clinic in Lochem offers services for common specialties such as cardiology and neurology. It also provides laboratory and basic radiologic facilities.
