Gemma Arterton
Gemma Arterton (born 2 February 1986) is an English actress and film producer. She made her professional stage debut playing Rosaline in Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost at the Globe Theatre (2007), and first appeared on film in the comedy St Trinian's (2007). Her breakthrough role was in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace (2008), playing Bond girl Strawberry Fields.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Arterton was born in Gravesend, Kent, to Sally-Anne Heap, a cleaner, and Barry J. Arterton, a welder. She attended the Gravesend Grammar School for Girls, where she took part in several school productions. She later trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating in 2008.

Film[edit | edit source]
Arterton's first professional role was in the film St Trinian's (2007). She gained international recognition for her role as Strawberry Fields in the James Bond film Quantum of Solace (2008). She has since appeared in a variety of films, including Clash of the Titans (2010), Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010), Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013), and The Girl with All the Gifts (2016).

Arterton has also appeared in several television productions. She starred in the BBC adaptation of Tess of the d'Urbervilles (2008) and the miniseries Lost in Austen (2008). In 2018, she played the lead role in the television series Black Narcissus.
Theatre[edit | edit source]
Arterton has continued to work in theatre, including performances in The Duchess of Malfi (2014) at the Shakespeare's Globe and Nell Gwynn (2015) at the Apollo Theatre.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Arterton married Stefano Catelli in 2010, but the couple separated in 2013 and divorced in 2015. She is known for her advocacy for gender equality in the film industry and has been involved in various charitable activities.
