George Coukos
Swiss-American oncologist and researcher
George Coukos is a Swiss-American oncologist and researcher known for his pioneering work in the field of cancer immunotherapy. He is the director of the Department of Oncology at the University of Lausanne and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research Lausanne Branch. His research focuses on the tumor microenvironment and the development of novel therapeutic strategies to harness the immune system to fight cancer.

George Coukos was born in Athens, Greece. He pursued his medical degree at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy, where he developed an interest in oncology and immunology. Following his graduation, Coukos completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Modena, where he began to explore the role of the immune system in cancer.
