George O'Malley is a fictional character from the medical drama television series Grey's Anatomy, which airs on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) in the United States. The character was created by series producer Shonda Rhimes, and was portrayed by actor T. R. Knight. George O'Malley was a surgical resident at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital.
Character History[edit | edit source]
George O'Malley made his first appearance in the pilot episode, "A Hard Day's Night", which aired on March 27, 2005. He was introduced as a surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital, working alongside fellow interns Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens, and Alex Karev. George was often referred to by the nickname "007" due to his perceived lack of surgical skills early in the series.
Relationships[edit | edit source]
George had several significant relationships throughout the series. He was married to Callie Torres, but their marriage ended in divorce. He also had romantic entanglements with Izzie Stevens and Lexie Grey.
Departure[edit | edit source]
George O'Malley's character met a tragic end in the season 5 finale, "Now or Never". He was hit by a bus while saving a woman and later died from his injuries. His death had a profound impact on the other characters and the storyline of the series.
Character Traits[edit | edit source]
George was known for his kind-hearted nature, empathy, and dedication to his patients. Despite his initial struggles, he grew to become a competent and respected surgeon. His character often provided a moral compass for the series, and his relationships with other characters were central to many storylines.
