George P. Ikirt (November 3, 1852 – February 12, 1927) was an American physician and politician who served as a U.S. Representative from Ohio.

Early life and education[edit | edit source]

George Pierce Ikirt was born near West Beaver, Ohio, in Columbiana County, Ohio. He attended the common schools and graduated from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. He later studied medicine and graduated from the University of Wooster Medical Department in Cleveland, Ohio in 1880.

Medical career[edit | edit source]

After completing his medical education, Ikirt began practicing medicine in East Liverpool, Ohio. He became well-known in the community for his medical expertise and dedication to patient care.

Political career[edit | edit source]

Ikirt was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third and Fifty-fourth Congresses (March 4, 1893 – March 3, 1897). During his tenure, he focused on issues related to public health and veterans' affairs. He was not a candidate for renomination in 1896.

Later life and death[edit | edit source]

After his congressional service, Ikirt returned to his medical practice in East Liverpool. He continued to be active in the community until his death on February 12, 1927. He was interred in Riverview Cemetery.
