George Woolf
George Woolf (May 31, 1910 – January 4, 1946) was a Canadian jockey known for his exceptional riding skills and his association with the legendary racehorse Seabiscuit. Woolf's career was marked by numerous victories and his reputation as one of the finest jockeys of his time.

George Monroe Woolf was born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. He grew up in a family with a strong equestrian background, which influenced his early interest in horse racing. Woolf began riding horses at a young age and quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the sport.

Woolf's professional career as a jockey began in the late 1920s. He moved to the United States to pursue greater opportunities in horse racing. Woolf's skill and determination soon earned him a reputation as a top jockey. He was known for his calm demeanor, strategic thinking, and ability to get the best performance out of his mounts.
One of Woolf's most notable achievements was his association with the racehorse Seabiscuit. Woolf rode Seabiscuit in several key races, including the famous match race against War Admiral in 1938, which Seabiscuit won. This victory cemented Woolf's status as a legendary jockey.

Woolf was known for his quiet and reserved personality. Despite his fame, he remained humble and dedicated to his craft. Woolf's career was tragically cut short when he suffered a fatal accident during a race at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. He passed away on January 4, 1946, at the age of 35.

George Woolf's legacy lives on in the world of horse racing. He was posthumously inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1955.
