Georgetown County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 63,131. The county seat is Georgetown. The county was founded in 1769 and is named after King George III.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,035 square miles (2,680 km²), of which 814 square miles (2,110 km²) is land and 221 square miles (570 km²) (21.4%) is water. The county is part of the Grand Strand region, a popular tourist destination.

As of the 2020 census, there were 63,131 people, 25,000 households, and 16,000 families residing in the county. The population density was 77.5 people per square mile (30/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 63.5% White, 32.1% Black or African American, 0.5% Native American, 0.6% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 3.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.5% of the population.

The economy of Georgetown County is diverse, with significant contributions from tourism, manufacturing, and agriculture. The International Paper mill and ArcelorMittal steel mill are major employers in the area. The county is also known for its rice and indigo plantations, which were historically significant.

Georgetown County is served by the Georgetown County School District, which includes several elementary, middle, and high schools. Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College provide higher education opportunities in the region.
