Gladys Spencer-Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough, born Gladys Marie Deacon on 1881, was an American-born British socialite and philanthropist. She was known for her beauty, intellect, and eccentric personality.

Gladys Marie Deacon was born in Paris, France in 1881. She was the daughter of Edward Deacon, a wealthy American businessman, and his wife Florence. Gladys grew up in a privileged environment and received a good education.
Marriage and Title[edit | edit source]
In 1899, Gladys married the 9th Duke of Marlborough, George Spencer-Churchill. Following her marriage, she became known as the Duchess of Marlborough. The couple had a tumultuous relationship, and they eventually separated.
