The Government of Telangana is the governing authority of the Indian state of Telangana and its 33 districts. It consists of an executive, led by the Governor, a judiciary, and a legislative branch.

Executive Branch[edit | edit source]

The executive branch of the Government of Telangana is headed by the Governor, who is appointed by the President of India. The Governor acts as the nominal head of the state, while the real executive power lies with the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers.

The Chief Minister is the head of the government and is responsible for the administration of the state. The Chief Minister is appointed by the Governor and is usually the leader of the party or coalition that has a majority in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

The Council of Ministers is composed of cabinet ministers, ministers of state, and deputy ministers. They are responsible for various portfolios and assist the Chief Minister in the administration of the state.

Legislative Branch[edit | edit source]

The legislative branch of the Government of Telangana is a bicameral legislature, consisting of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and the Telangana Legislative Council.

Telangana Legislative Assembly[edit | edit source]

The Telangana Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the state legislature. It consists of 119 members who are directly elected by the people of the state through universal adult suffrage. The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years, unless dissolved sooner.

Telangana Legislative Council[edit | edit source]

The Telangana Legislative Council is the upper house of the state legislature. It is a permanent body and is not subject to dissolution, but one-third of its members retire every two years. The members of the Legislative Council are elected by various constituencies, including graduates, teachers, and members of the Legislative Assembly.

Judiciary[edit | edit source]

The judiciary in Telangana is independent of the executive and the legislature. The highest court in the state is the Telangana High Court, which has jurisdiction over the entire state. The High Court is responsible for upholding the law and ensuring justice.
