HSPA1B is a gene that encodes a member of the heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) family. The HSP70 family is a group of proteins that are produced by cells in response to exposure to stressful conditions. They play a crucial role in protecting cells from damage and in helping damaged cells to recover.

The HSPA1B gene is located on the chromosome 6 in humans. It is part of the HSP70 family, which is composed of highly conserved proteins that are involved in protein folding and degradation, as well as in the response to stress. The proteins encoded by this gene are induced by heat shock, but they are also produced in response to other types of stress, such as exposure to cold, UV radiation, and during wound healing.

Mutations in the HSPA1B gene have been associated with various diseases. For example, a polymorphism in this gene has been linked to an increased risk of coronary artery disease. Other studies have suggested a possible association between this gene and cancer, autoimmune diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases.
