Haig (whisky)
Haig (whisky) is a Scotch whisky brand that has a long and storied history in the whisky industry. The brand is named after its founder, John Haig, who established the Cameronbridge distillery in the early 19th century. Haig is known for its distinctive single grain whisky and is considered one of the oldest whisky brands in the world.
History[edit | edit source]
The Haig brand traces its roots back to the 17th century when a member of the Haig family first started distilling. However, it was John Haig who officially established the Cameronbridge distillery in 1824, marking the birth of the Haig brand. The distillery was one of the first to produce grain whisky on a large scale, using the continuous still method invented by Robert Stein and later improved by Aeneas Coffey.
Products[edit | edit source]
Haig offers a range of whiskies, including the popular Haig Club, a single grain Scotch whisky that is aged in ex-bourbon casks. Other notable products include the Haig Gold Label, a blended Scotch whisky, and the Haig Dimple, known for its unique bottle shape.
