Sean Patrick Hannity (born December 30, 1961) is an American television host, radio host, political commentator, and author. He is the host of The Sean Hannity Show, a nationally syndicated talk radio show, and has also hosted a commentary program, Hannity, on Fox News since 2009.

Early life[edit | edit source]

Hannity was born in New York City and grew up in Franklin Square, a neighborhood on Long Island. He is the youngest of four siblings. His parents were Lillian F. Hannity, a stenographer and corrections officer at a county jail, and Hugh J. Hannity, a family-court officer. Hannity attended St. Pius X Preparatory Seminary in Uniondale for his high school education.

Career[edit | edit source]

Hannity began his career in radio in 1989 at KCSB-FM, a volunteer college station at UC Santa Barbara, where he hosted a talk show. He later worked at WVNN in Athens, Alabama, and WGST in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1996, he was hired by Fox News co-founder Roger Ailes to co-host the network's first prime-time show, Hannity & Colmes.

The Sean Hannity Show began national syndication on September 10, 2001, and is heard by millions of listeners on over 500 stations nationwide. The show covers a variety of topics, including politics, current events, and social issues.

Television[edit | edit source]

Hannity's television career began with Hannity & Colmes, which he co-hosted with Alan Colmes until 2009. After Colmes left the show, it was rebranded as Hannity, where Hannity continues to provide conservative commentary and interviews with political figures.

Political views[edit | edit source]

Hannity is known for his conservative political views and has been a vocal supporter of the Republican Party. He has been a strong advocate for Donald Trump and his policies, often defending the former president on his shows.

Personal life[edit | edit source]

Hannity was married to Jill Rhodes for over 20 years, and they have two children together. The couple divorced in 2019. Hannity is a devout Roman Catholic and has spoken about his faith on several occasions.

Awards and recognition[edit | edit source]

Hannity has received several awards for his work in broadcasting, including the Marconi Award for Network Syndicated Personality of the Year in 2003 and 2007. He has also been listed among the most influential talk show hosts in America.
