Sean Patrick Hannity (born December 30, 1961) is an American talk show host, conservative political commentator, and author. He is best known for hosting Hannity on the Fox News Channel and The Sean Hannity Show, a nationally syndicated talk radio show.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Sean Hannity was born in New York City and grew up in Franklin Square, New York. He attended New York University and Adelphi University, but did not graduate. Hannity began his career in broadcasting at a college radio station.

Radio[edit | edit source]

Hannity's radio career began in 1989 at KCSB-FM, a volunteer college station at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he hosted a talk show. He later worked at WVNN in Athens, Alabama, and WGST in Atlanta. In 1996, he joined WABC in New York, where he worked until 2013. His radio show, The Sean Hannity Show, is syndicated by Premiere Networks and airs on over 500 stations nationwide.

Television[edit | edit source]

In 1996, Hannity was hired by Fox News co-founder Roger Ailes to co-host a television program with Alan Colmes, which was originally titled Hannity & Colmes. The show featured Hannity as the conservative voice and Colmes as the liberal voice. After Colmes left the show in 2009, it was rebranded as Hannity.

Hannity is also a bestselling author. His books include Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War of Liberty over Liberalism (2002), Deliver Us from Evil: Defeating Terrorism, Despotism, and Liberalism (2004), and Live Free or Die: America (and the World) on the Brink (2020).

Political Views and Influence[edit | edit source]

Hannity is known for his conservative political views and has been a vocal supporter of the Republican Party. He has been particularly supportive of former President Donald Trump, often using his platforms to defend Trump's policies and actions.

Controversies[edit | edit source]

Hannity has been involved in several controversies throughout his career, including accusations of promoting conspiracy theories and biased reporting. Despite this, he remains a prominent figure in conservative media.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Hannity is married to Jill Rhodes, and they have two children. He is a devout Catholic and has spoken about his faith in public.
