Hanumant Singh

Hanumant Singh (born December 29, 1939) was an Indian cricketer who represented the Indian national team in international cricket. He was born in Amritsar, Punjab, India. Hanumant Singh was a right-handed batsman known for his elegant stroke play and solid technique.

Early Life and Career[edit | edit source]

Hanumant Singh made his first-class debut for Rajasthan in 1958. His consistent performances at the domestic level earned him a call-up to the Indian national team in 1964. He made his Test debut against England in 1964 and went on to represent India in 14 Test matches.

International Career[edit | edit source]

Hanumant Singh was known for his ability to play long innings and was considered a reliable middle-order batsman for India. He scored over 400 runs in Test cricket at an average of 24.55, with a highest score of 105. He also captained the Indian team in one Test match against New Zealand in 1968.
