Henkel

Henkel AG & Company, KGaA is a German multinational company active both in the consumer and industrial sector. Founded in 1876, the Düsseldorf based company is organized into three globally operating business units: Laundry & Home Care, Beauty Care, and Adhesive Technologies. The company holds leading positions with its three business units in both industrial and consumer businesses thanks to strong brands, innovations and technologies such as Persil, Schwarzkopf, and Loctite.

History[edit | edit source]

Henkel was founded in 1876 by Fritz Henkel in Aachen, Germany. The company's first product was a laundry detergent based on sodium silicate, named "Universal-Waschmittel" (universal detergent). In the following decades, Henkel expanded its business and entered new markets - in 1883, it launched its first toilet soap, and in 1893, Henkel started to sell its products abroad.

Business Units[edit | edit source]

Laundry & Home Care[edit | edit source]

The Laundry & Home Care business unit is globally active in the laundry and home care branded consumer goods business. The laundry products of Henkel include Persil, Purex, and Pril.

Beauty Care[edit | edit source]

The Beauty Care business unit is active in the Branded Consumer Goods business with Hair Cosmetics, Body Care, Skin Care and Oral Care, as well as the professional Hair Salon business. Some of the well-known brands from this unit include Schwarzkopf, Dial, and Right Guard.

Adhesive Technologies[edit | edit source]

The Adhesive Technologies business unit provides solutions in adhesives, sealants and functional coatings in two business areas: Industry as well as Consumer, Craftsmen and Building. This unit's well-known brands include Loctite, Technomelt, and Teroson.

Sustainability[edit | edit source]

Henkel has been a leader in sustainability for many years. The company's sustainability strategy is to achieve more with less. This means creating more value for its customers and consumers, for the communities it operates in, and for the company, while reducing its environmental footprint at the same time.
