Hexobendine
Hexobendine is a vasodilator that is used in the treatment of angina pectoris, a condition characterized by chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart. It is also used in the treatment of peripheral and cerebral vascular disorders. Hexobendine works by increasing blood flow and improving oxygen supply to the heart and other organs.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
The term "Hexobendine" is derived from the Greek words "hexa", meaning six, and "bendine", a term of unknown origin.
Pharmacology[edit | edit source]
Hexobendine is a vasodilator, which means it widens blood vessels and increases blood flow. This helps to improve oxygen supply to the heart and other organs, reducing the symptoms of conditions such as angina pectoris. Hexobendine is also used in the treatment of peripheral and cerebral vascular disorders, where it can help to improve blood flow and reduce symptoms.
Side Effects[edit | edit source]
Like all medications, Hexobendine can cause side effects. These may include dizziness, nausea, headache, and flushing. If these side effects persist or worsen, patients are advised to seek medical attention.
