- Horicon was incorporated as a city in 1869. The city has a rich history that dates back to the 19th century. It was originally a manufacturing hub, with the Van Brunt Manufacturing Company, which later became part of John Deere, being one of the main employers in the city.

- Horicon is located at 43°27′N 88°38′W. The city has a total area of 3.42 square miles, of which, 3.17 square miles is land and 0.25 square miles is water. The city is located on the west branch of the Rock River.
