Horsham, Pennsylvania

Horsham, Pennsylvania is a census-designated place (CDP) and township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. The township, established in 1717, is one of the oldest in Pennsylvania and has a rich history dating back to the early 18th century.

Horsham was named after the town of Horsham in Sussex, England. The township was established by a warrant dated April 9, 1717, issued to Samuel Carpenter, a prominent Quaker who had immigrated from England in 1683. The early settlers were primarily of English and Welsh descent.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Horsham is located at 40°10′39″N 75°7′34″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 26.1 square miles (67.6 km²), of which, 26.1 square miles (67.6 km²) of it is land and 0.04% is water.

Demographics[edit | edit source]

As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 26,147 people, 9,470 households, and 6,711 families residing in the township. The population density was 1,038.0 people per square mile (401.2/km²).

Economy[edit | edit source]

Horsham is home to several major businesses and corporations, including Toll Brothers, Bimbo Bakeries USA, and NextGen Healthcare. The township also hosts the Horsham Air Guard Station, a significant economic contributor to the region.

Education[edit | edit source]

The Hatboro-Horsham School District serves the township, providing education for children from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district includes several elementary schools, a middle school, and Hatboro-Horsham High School.
