Hospital Dr. Tony Facio Castro, also known as Hospital Tony Facio, is a general hospital located in Limón, Costa Rica. It serves the health needs of the population in Limón Province.

The hospital covers an area of 22,000 square meters and consists of various modules for hospitalization and outpatient services. It offers specialized medical services to the residents of Pococí, Guácimo, and the Cariari district, which have a combined population of 166,723 inhabitants.[1]

The hospital serves three population categories: the direct population, which includes individuals directly attached or assigned to the hospital; the indirect population, which consists of individuals referred by specialists; and the floating population, which includes unattached individuals and tourists. The direct population primarily comes from Limón (city), Siquirres, Talamanca, and Matina. The indirect population is from Pococí, Guácimo, and the Cariari district. The floating population includes both national and international immigrants as well as tourists.[1]

The hospital is named in honor of Dr. Tony Facio, a native of Puerto Limón. Dr. Facio, whose full name was Maximiliano Antonio de la Paz Facio Castro, tragically passed away at the age of 30. The Hospital San Juan de Dios in San José also has a medical research center named after Dr. Antonio Facio Castro, dedicated to the memory of the esteemed doctor.[2][3]

Hospital Tony Facio is situated on a small peninsula along the Caribbean Sea, approximately 0.75 km from the town center of Limón. It offers a picturesque view of Uvita Island located 1.5 km offshore, as well as Parque Vargas, a municipal park, across a small bay.
