Ladakh, known for its mesmerizing landscapes and challenging terrains, was declared a union territory in 2019. Despite its limited population and remote location, healthcare has always been a priority for the local administration. Due to the high-altitude conditions and the unique lifestyle of its residents, medical facilities in Ladakh need to cater to a range of health issues, some distinct to the region.

However, the dedication of the local healthcare community, supported by various government initiatives, ensures that residents and tourists alike have access to quality medical care.

- Sonam Norboo Memorial Hospital (SNMH): Situated in Leh, it's the primary medical institution serving the locals and tourists. SNMH offers a range of specialties including high-altitude medicine.
