Human Anatomy by Organ[edit | edit source]

Human anatomy by organ refers to the study of the structure of the human body, organized by the various organs that constitute it. This field of study is a crucial aspect of medical science and is fundamental to the understanding and practice of medicine.

Heart[edit | edit source]

The heart is a vital organ located in the thoracic cavity. It is primarily responsible for pumping blood throughout the body via the circulatory system. The heart is composed of four chambers: two atria and two ventricles.

Lungs[edit | edit source]

The lungs are a pair of spongy, air-filled organs located on either side of the chest (thorax). They are an essential part of the respiratory system, facilitating the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide with the blood.

Liver[edit | edit source]

The liver is a large, meaty organ that sits on the right side of the belly. It is responsible for detoxifying chemicals and metabolizing drugs in the body. The liver also secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines.

Kidneys[edit | edit source]

The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located below the rib cage on each side of the spine. They filter the blood to remove wastes, control the body's fluid balance, and regulate the balance of electrolytes.

Stomach[edit | edit source]

The stomach is a muscular organ located on the left side of the upper abdomen. It receives food from the esophagus and secretes acid and enzymes to digest food.

Brain[edit | edit source]

The brain is the organ of the body in the head that controls functions, movements, sensations, and thoughts. It is the center of the nervous system and is responsible for coordinating all the body's activities.
