Hydrox

Hydrox is a type of biscuit that was first produced by Sunshine Biscuits in 1908. It is often compared to the more well-known Oreo biscuit, which was introduced later in 1912. Despite the similarities, Hydrox has its unique characteristics and fan base.

History[edit | edit source]

The Hydrox biscuit was first introduced by Sunshine Biscuits in 1908. The name "Hydrox" is derived from the atoms hydrogen and oxygen, the components of water. The company wanted to associate their product with purity and cleanliness.

Description[edit | edit source]

Hydrox is a sandwich biscuit, consisting of two chocolate wafers with a sweet cream filling in between. The biscuit is known for its crispier texture and less sweet filling compared to its competitor, the Oreo.

Reception and Legacy[edit | edit source]

Despite being overshadowed by the popularity of Oreos, Hydrox has maintained a loyal fan base. It is often preferred by those who find Oreos too sweet or soft. The biscuit has also been recognized for being the original sandwich biscuit, predating the Oreo by four years.
