Design[edit | edit source]

The design of the iPhone 8 is largely similar to its predecessor, with the major difference being the switch to a glass back to enable wireless charging. The device's body is made of aerospace-grade aluminum with a seven-layer color process, ensuring the device's color durability. The iPhone 8 measures 138.4 mm (5.45 inches) in height, 67.3 mm (2.65 inches) in width, and 7.3 mm (0.29 inches) in thickness, and weighs 148 grams (5.22 ounces). It is available in three colors: Silver, Space Gray, and Gold.

Features[edit | edit source]

The iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display with True Tone technology, which adjusts the white balance to match the ambient light for a more natural viewing experience. It is powered by the A11 Bionic chip with 64-bit architecture, M11 motion coprocessor, and is equipped with a 12-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and a 7-megapixel front-facing camera. The device supports wireless charging and is water and dust resistant with an IP67 rating.

Software[edit | edit source]

The iPhone 8 originally shipped with iOS 11 and has received multiple software updates, currently supporting the latest version of iOS. iOS provides a range of features including the App Store, Siri, and augmented reality capabilities through ARKit.

Reception[edit | edit source]

The iPhone 8 received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its improved camera, processor, and wireless charging capabilities, though it was criticized for its design similarity to previous models. The introduction of the iPhone X alongside the iPhone 8 led to some confusion among consumers regarding which model to purchase, due to the significant price difference and technological advancements in the iPhone X.
