IPhoto
iPhoto is a discontinued digital photograph manipulation software application developed by Apple Inc. It was included as a part of the iLife suite of digital media management applications up until iLife '13. iPhoto allows users to import, organize, edit, print and share digital photos.
History[edit | edit source]
iPhoto was announced at Macworld Conference & Expo in 2002 and was marketed as a killer application for the consumer-oriented Macintosh product line. It was bundled with all new Macs and was also available as a free download for existing Mac users. For several years, iPhoto was one of Apple's flagship applications and was highly integrated with other applications in the iLife suite.
Features[edit | edit source]
iPhoto supports most common image file formats, including JPEG, GIF, and PNG. It also recognizes and preserves EXIF and IPTC metadata tags. iPhoto also includes a number of features for editing photos, including red-eye removal, cropping, and straightening, as well as more advanced features such as retouching and color correction.
Discontinuation[edit | edit source]
In 2015, Apple announced that iPhoto would be discontinued and replaced by a new application called Photos, which has more advanced editing features and better integration with iCloud.
