Infanta Mariana Vitória of Braganza (15 December 1768 – 2 November 1788) was a Portuguese infanta (princess), the daughter of Joseph I of Portugal and Mariana Victoria of Spain. She was a member of the House of Braganza, the ruling dynasty of the Kingdom of Portugal.
Early Life[edit | edit source]
Infanta Mariana Vitória was born on 15 December 1768 at the Ajuda Palace in Lisbon. She was the second daughter of Joseph I of Portugal and his wife, Mariana Victoria of Spain. Her birth was celebrated with great joy in the Portuguese court, as she was a member of the prestigious House of Braganza.
Family and Background[edit | edit source]
Mariana Vitória's father, Joseph I of Portugal, was the King of Portugal from 1750 until his death in 1777. Her mother, Mariana Victoria of Spain, was the daughter of Philip V of Spain and Elisabeth Farnese. Mariana Vitória had several siblings, including her elder sister, Maria I of Portugal, who succeeded their father as the monarch of Portugal.
Death[edit | edit source]
Infanta Mariana Vitória died on 2 November 1788 in Lisbon at the age of 19. Her early death was a significant loss to the Portuguese royal family.
