Inger Stevens (born Ingrid Stensland; October 18, 1934 – April 30, 1970) was a Swedish-American actress known for her work in film, television, and theater. She gained fame in the 1960s for her roles in various television series and films, becoming a prominent figure in Hollywood during that era.

Inger Stevens was born in Stockholm, Sweden, to Per Gustaf and Lisbet Stensland. Her early life was marked by the separation of her parents, after which she moved to the United States with her father and brother. She attended high school in Manhattan, Kansas, and later pursued acting at the Actors Studio in New York City.

Stevens began her career in the entertainment industry with appearances in television commercials and minor roles in television series. Her breakthrough came with the role of Katy Holstrum in the television series The Farmer's Daughter, which aired from 1963 to 1966. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best TV Star – Female in 1964.

In addition to her television work, Stevens appeared in several films, including The World, the Flesh and the Devil (1959), A Guide for the Married Man (1967), and Hang 'Em High (1968). Her versatility as an actress allowed her to portray a wide range of characters, from comedic roles to dramatic performances.

Inger Stevens' personal life was often tumultuous. She was married twice, first to her agent Anthony Soglio, and later to Ike Jones, an African-American producer, in a marriage that was kept secret for many years due to the racial climate of the time.
