Jahrom

Jahrom is a city in and the capital of Jahrom County, Fars Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 114,208, in 29,577 families. Jahrom is located 170 kilometres southeast of Shiraz, the capital of Fars Province.

Jahrom is one of the oldest cities in Iran, with a history dating back over 2500 years. The city was once the capital of the Persian Empire under the reign of Artaxerxes II. Jahrom is known for its historical sites, including the ancient city of Ghaleh Dokhtar and the Jahrom Castle.

Jahrom is located in the southern part of Iran, in the Fars Province. The city is surrounded by mountains and has a semi-arid climate. The highest peak in the area is the Mount Damavand, which is also the highest peak in Iran.
