Jennifer Lynn Lopez (born July 24, 1969), also known by her nickname J.Lo, is an American singer, actress, and dancer. She is one of the most influential Latin entertainers in the United States and has enjoyed a successful career in both music and film.

Jennifer Lopez was born in The Bronx, New York City, to Puerto Rican parents. She was raised in a Roman Catholic family and began taking singing and dancing lessons at the age of five. Lopez attended Preston High School and later enrolled at Baruch College, but left after one semester to pursue a career in entertainment.

Lopez's first major role was as a Fly Girl dancer on the television show In Living Color in 1991. She gained her first leading role in the film Selena (1997), portraying the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez.
