Jessica Lange
Jessica Lange (born April 20, 1949) is an American actress. She is known for her work in film, television, and theater. Lange has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including two Academy Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Tony Award. She is one of the most celebrated actresses of her generation.

Jessica Phyllis Lange was born in Cloquet, Minnesota, to Dorothy Florence and Albert John Lange. She has two older sisters, Ann and Jane, and a younger brother, George. Lange attended the University of Minnesota on an art scholarship before dropping out to pursue a career in acting.

Film[edit | edit source]
Lange made her film debut in the 1976 remake of King Kong, for which she won her first Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year. She went on to receive critical acclaim for her performances in Tootsie (1982), Frances (1982), and Blue Sky (1994), winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Tootsie and the Academy Award for Best Actress for Blue Sky.

Lange's television career includes notable roles in the anthology series American Horror Story, for which she won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. She also portrayed Joan Crawford in the miniseries Feud: Bette and Joan, earning another Emmy nomination.

In addition to her work in film and television, Lange has also appeared on stage. She made her Broadway debut in the 1992 production of A Streetcar Named Desire and won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her role in the 2016 revival of Long Day's Journey into Night.

Lange was in a relationship with ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov from 1976 to 1982, with whom she has a daughter, Aleksandra. She later had a long-term relationship with playwright Sam Shepard, with whom she has two children, Hannah and Samuel.
